And I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. In fact, i think the man gets funnier every time I see him.

The audience still knew Bubba J's act by heart and Jeff's random ad-libbing on stage was even funnier than the practiced routine I think.

Sure, its the biggest shopping day of the year.

But when you work Retail... there is a whole 'nuther phrase for it. Most of which are likened to "Living Hell"

Its fun, its fast paced and its insane. There is so much excitement that its unreal,

I work at Kohl's, which is a rather popular store with some rather archaic ways of doing things. We have 11 registers. Period. We had 800 freaking customers. Our cashiers have never worked a Black Friday before, and all of them are newbies. they nearly had a heart attack... they were in shock. None of them believed it could be so busy on a single day.

This was my THIRD Black Friday so i was prepared for the worst, for the most part our customers were fairly decent... but when we got cranky ones we got cranky ones.

about the 300th customer I put through the register was the bitchiest woman I have ever met.
This is, verbatim, the conversation we had.

Customer- Why don't you have more Registers set up?
Me- Well, we don't have any more equipment to do that.
Customer- Obviously. It doesn't take a fucking brain surgeon to figure that out.
Me-.... Then why did you ask?
Customer- *grumbles and goes to the further register*

I will say this, I said what I said with a straight face and didn't lose my calm. In fact, I was a source of calm for a lot of people today... for those who'd never worked on Black Friday I offered advice to handle the shock and bombardment of angry people.

Simply this: Don't take it to heart, treat them like they are being nice to you even if they aren't. If you find yourself on the verge of a panic attack take yourself aside, where no one can see you and slowly count to ten, take deep breaths and then charge back into.

I mean, what else can you do? If you lose your calm or panic then everyone else will panic and it will never get any better. If you are mean back to customers you can get fired, so think, is it really worth the aggravation just to get a word in edgewise.

Luckily, I ended up with a decent boss so when the lady who snapped at me went to complain about ME being rude John merely shrugged and repeated exactly what I'd said, in a different way, "Why did you bother asking if you already knew the answer?"

My advice to the rest of the partially sane world: DON'T GO SHOPPING ON BLACK FRIDAY UNLESS YOU THINK ITS WORTH A TWO HOUR WAIT IN LINE!!!

I mean really people, you get up at the crack of dawn to shop.... and you wait forever (which you knew you would) AND STILL BITCH ABOUT IT???? And then when someone asks you how your day is going you rant about the way we handle things?


Everyone loves to hate Black Friday. Its the most scary, fun, stressful, exciting day of the retail year.

Now that the Thanksgiving Turkey has been carved and I've eaten to my hearts content... I am tired and happy.

But more than that, I am thankful for the wonderful things in my life.

My friends, who have always supported and guided me when I needed them the most. I am most thankful to you, because you know everything and love me, despite the many many flaws I may have.

To my Family who have to put up with my rantings and ravings and laziness, I wish I could be better but right now I just want to be me. They tolerate me at my worst and stand by my when I need help... be it for money or advice... the former more than anything.

I am thankful for my job, despite the Hell that retail may be... Yeah... there isn't much more about Kohl's to say... save this: The people I work with are, nine times out of ten, the most fun people I can be near and I love most of them.

To Q... the state of being and the institution itself... the epitome of being who who we truly are... and not having to hold back our creative minds from a world that doesn't quite understand. The Q have come so far and done so much, together and apart, that our bonds are forever.

To the election even... I am thankful that we have a President-elect who is determined to help the US through its time of dire need. My many many thanks go to Barack Obama for his great devotion to the country he serves.

I know that last part was rather cheesy...but I meant it.

Anyway, this is my own personal thanks to everything that matters. Angry McCain supporters and other bashing comments will not be tolerated.
